St. Patrick's Day, 2006
Mood:  special
On March 17, 2006, I had the privilege of attending the Coldplay concert at Scotiabank Place, one of their 28 stops on the Twisted Logic tour. What an amazing experience it was. There was a musical and spiritual connection with the fans the second the music started. Opening their concert with Twisted Logic, they included songs such as Politik, Yellow, In My Place, X & Y, Talk, Speed of Sound, Fix You, and many more. The latter of these songs, Fix You, was the concluding song of the night. There had always been a place in my heart for this song, and singing along to it was incredible. Watching Chris Martin, whose stage presence is second to none, pumped me up and made me feel alive. As improbable as it may seem, this was definitely one of the best nights of my entire life. My favourite song from this concert, the one I will remember for a long time, was The Scientist. I will not enter into details, but there is hidden meaning behind this song in my life. One of my best friends loves this song dearly, and I previously recorded it on guitar just for this person. This song represents my love for this person, and the minute I heard that first D minor chord echo out into the crowd, I knew that it would be a special moment. I sang with Chris, not missing a word, occasionally closing my eyes and feeling the power of the song. I would look up into the rafters while singing and think of that person, picture their face in my head, and I know somehow that they would hear it in the back of their mind. To feel the feeling that I felt this night was truly unparalleled by any other. This is one of the happiest nights of my life, and I owe it all to Coldplay.
